“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” ~Mark Twain

I believe we all have a purpose in life. As we welcome in 2015, I invite you to reflect on your life purpose and how you will fully live it. This year I commit to having the courage and fortitude to stay on purpose…

My life purpose is to use my compassion, creativity and enthusiasm

to empower and inspire others to know their inherent value and to achieve their highest purpose

in the context of love, joy, appreciation and gratitude.

My mentor, Jack Canfield, co-creator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul Series and The Success Principles has a great template for helping people identify their life purpose. His 2nd Principle is “Be Clear Why You Are Here.”  Below are simple steps to help you clarify your life purpose.

1.  List two of your unique character strengths (personal qualities/ virtues).

2.  List one or two ways you enjoy expressing those qualities when interacting with others (verbs such as inspire, support, create, etc…).

3.  Assuming the world is perfect,  describe in present tense what it would look like, feel like, and how everyone is interacting with one another if you were living your purpose.

4.  Combine these three ideas into a single statement. (See my life purpose statement in bold at the beginning of this post as an example.)

So I am curious…

What is your life purpose?

How will you live it?

What might be helpful in empowering you to be successful this year? It might be letting go of fears and limiting beliefs that no longer serve you. Perhaps doing a daily virtues pick and taking the time to reflect on the meaning presented will give you clasrity.  Maybe it is committing to self care by meditating on a daily basis.  Perhaps participating in and/or hosting a Principles for Success workshop or retreat will inspire you to live your purpose. Whatever speaks to you, it would be my honor to be of service to you as we journey into 2015.

Wishing you a new year full of  joy, meaning and purpose!

With love and enthusiasm,

Dara
