How are you, really? During this course you will have the opportunity to put on your oxygen mask, refresh and gladden your spirit, as well as connect more deeply with yourself and others. You will learn simple strategies to address burnout, compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, and moral injury. As a result of participating you will leave the session being able to apply the tools, strategies and techniques immediately, both at home and at school, which will empower you to stay on purpose and keep making a significant contribution to your school community and beyond.

Goals/Objectives: As a result of actively participating in this course you will

  • connect in meaningful ways with yourself and others
  • reflect, identify, and better manage your own emotions
  • understand the signs of burnout, compassion fatigue, and moral injury
  • assess and increase your ability for self compassion
  • utilize breathing techniques for stress reduction and increased energy
  • access a variety of tools and strategies to create your own self-care/wellbeing toolkit.

Course Expectations: Educators will

  • Actively participate online
  • Create a personal self-care/wellbeing toolkit
  • Identify at least 3 self-care/wellbeing strategies to implement
  • Optional: Explore the different resources on darafeldman.com
  • Choose 1 of the following assignments to be turned in
    • Develop a personal wellbeing action plan and/or toolkit and write a short reflection as to how you feel as a result of implementing you wellbeing plan and/or using at least 3 of your toolkit resources over the course of at least 2 weeks.
    • Create a presentation with at least 10 slides teaching a variety of self-care strategies in engaging and interactive ways. Include activities and site resources and research.
